IEEE COLOMBIA and the University Santo Tomás, Seccional Bucaramanga, invite to participate in XIII the Symposium of Image, Signal processing and Artificial Vision, STSIVA 2008, that will be runned on September 10, 11 and 12, this year. Until now 220 summaries have been received of which it is hoped to accept around 120 articles. This year we waited for the participation of near 300 people.

Site:

The event will be held in the campus of Floridablanca at the University Santo Tomás (Floridablanca, Santander) and inauguration ceremony will start at 7 a.m. on  September 10th.

The event counts with the support of the Colombian Chapter of Signal processing of the IEEE, with the co-financing of Colciencias and others.

Purpose:

The objective of this symposium is to consolidate the academic community and to promote the interchange of  experiences between researches in the areas of Image, signal processing and Artificial Vision, in a space that allows to sight seeing the state-of-the-art and to upgrade methods, techniques and applications used in the different thematic areas, in the national and in the international panorama.

The event is addressed mainly to people related with Electrical, Electronic, Computers and Telecommunications Enginnering and people passionated with the image and signal processing and the artificial vision.

The dynamics of the event is based on oral presentations and poster presentation.

Subjects:

The themes are related but not limited to:

• Techniques and applications of the signal processing
• Multidimensional signal and image processing
• Signal processing of video
• Artificial vision
• Signal processing of biological origin
• Applications developed with DSPs and PLDs (FPGA)
• Education in Signals, Images and Artificial Vision
• Signal processing of audio voice and
• Signal processing multimedia.

There will be two simultaneous rooms to oral presentations and one permanent room with assigned schedule devoted to poster presentation. In a different schedule will be runned minicourses related to the general subject of the symposium.

Every day of the symposium a skillful conference will be included, among the lecturers will be:

Este año esperamos la participación de cerca de 300 personas.

Lugar:

El evento se realizará en el campus de Floridablanca de la Universidad Santo Tomás (Floridablanca, Santander)  y la ceremonia de instalación será a las 7 AM del miércoles  10 de septiembre del 2008.

El simposio cuenta con el apoyo del Capítulo Colombiano de Procesamiento de Señales del IEEE, con el cofinanciamiento de Colciencias y otras entidades.

Objetivo:

El objetivo del evento es consolidar comunidad académica y promover el intercambio de experiencias investigativas en las áreas de procesamiento de Señales, Imágenes y Visión Artificial en un espacio que permitirá la revisión del estado del arte y también la actualización de métodos, técnicas y aplicaciones empleadas en las diferentes áreas temáticas, tanto en el ámbito nacional como en el internacional. El evento va dirigido principalmente a personas relacionadas con la Ingeniería Electrónica, Eléctrica, de Sistemas y de Telecomunicaciones, interesados en el procesamiento de señales, imágenes y visión artificial. La dinámica propia del evento se caracteriza por la presentación de ponencias en sesiones orales y presentaciones de tipo póster.

Temas:

Las temáticas del evento están relacionadas –pero no limitadas- con:

•       Técnicas y aplicaciones del procesamiento de señales
•       Procesamiento de imágenes y señales multidimensionales
•       Tratamiento de señales de video
•       Visión artificial
•       Procesamiento de señales de origen biológico
•       Aplicaciones desarrolladas con DSPs y PLDs (FPGA)
•       Educación en Señales, Imágenes y Visión Artificial
•       Tratamiento de señales de voz y audio
•       Procesamiento de señales multimedia.

Se dispondrá de dos salas simultáneas para presentaciones orales y una sala permanente para la presentación de pósters, con horarios asignados.  En un horario diferente se realizarán minicursos relacionados con el tema general del simposio.
